I read an interesting article showing that some folks are completely unaware of certain parts of their personalities/behaviour – parts that are very evident to others. One example given was a chronically late person who honestly did not know they were always late.
I find it hard to understand being that unaware, but I have no doubt we all miss things about ourselves. I wonder to what degree we intentionally miss things, so we don’t feel responsible for dealing with them? Alternatively, maybe we down play things – making what is really a major issue a minor thing in our own mind. Again, this allows us to ignore it, or push it to the back burner so we can deal with “more important things”.
Think you might be guilty of this? I suggest you pray about it – fervently.
