If I had more time …

Most of us daydream about what we would do if we won or inherited a great deal of money. What if someone could give you more time? What if you suddenly had 28 hours days – an extra four hours a day with nothing you had to do? How would you spend the extra time? Think about it seriously for a bit, what would you do? Would you learn a new language or learn to play an instrument? Would you write a book, or get a degree? Would you spend more time with your wife, or with your children? Would you give time to some charity or to your church?

How you would spend “extra” time says something about your dreams and desires. Maybe some of those things are important – maybe you need to find a way to do some of those things in the 24 hours a day you have. How could you do it without failing to do what you need to do, and without reducing the amount of margin in your life? What could you cut back or cut out to make the time to live your dreams and fulfil your desires?

Want to get serious about this? Discuss it with your bride. Talk about what each of you would do with extra time, then decide which of those you really want to accomplish. Support her in her desires, and help her to make the time to live her dreams. Ask her to do the same for you.

I found this in my father's desk drawer after he passed away... "Lost - Two Golden Hours" "Lost yesterday somewhere between sunrise and sunset, each set with sixty diamond minutes. No reward is offered for they are gone forever." - Horace Mann My Dad knew that time was a "non-renewable resource."
