We see everything filtered through our experiences, our fears, our insecurities, our expectations, and much more. This means I do not see my wife as she is; I see her distorted by all my baggage.
What if I saw my precious Lori as God sees her? Would I treat her differently? How could I NOT treat her differently! How could I be short or irritated with her if I saw her through His eyes? How could I accuse her without cause? Even with cause, could I be as harsh and lacking in grace? Would I be as fast to blame her, and as slow to forgive her?
Occasionally I have a glimpse of her as God sees her. Not fully, and not for more than a moment, but for a split second I see her without most of my junk. In that moment I see her as most beautiful, and I feel ashamed for much of what I have thought, said, and done, about and to her. I try to put that in perspective and use it to change. My goal is to feel less of that the next time I get a peek at her through His eyes.
As for me, I am praying that the Lord will give me more and longer glimpses of how He sees my wife.
