A Different Way to Look at Cost

I read a great lifehacker article recently –  Center Your Budget Around Buying Freedom Instead of Things.

It’s a great way to look at money, and I think the concept is useful in other areas, including marriage. You and your bride both have limited time and energy and when you spend those on something you have less for other things. What do you most want to “buy” with your time and energy? Anytime you “spend” on other things you lose the ability to “buy” what you most want.

The same is true when you ask your wife to do things; you are asking her to spend some of her time and energy, leaving her less of those to spend on you in other ways. Think before you ask her to spend! You would also be wise to learn what various things cost her in time and energy. You’ll find some things cost her less than they cost you while other things cost her more.

By the Way: We had good response to the kick off of our year-end giving. Thank you so much to all who gave!
