What Are You Doing To Make It Happen?

Yesterday I asked you what kind of marriage you want in one, three, and five years. I suggested you write out your goals.

What Are You Doing To Make It Happen?

If you did that, what are you going to do to get from where you are to where you want to be? I know the first things that come to your mind are all the things you would like your wife to change. But what are you going to change? What are you going to do to make your marriage better, regardless of what she does? What are you going to do less of, or stop doing? What are you going to start doing or do more of?

The vast majority of men could do things that would make their marriages better. There are exceptions, but they are rare and most the men who think they are an exception are not.

  1. Humbling thoughts. One additional thought, measurement. When we set up our plan, we should consider what measurements we are going to use to evaluate what has been accomplished. I would suggest that our wives are a necessary part of that measurement as a counter to the issue of thinking we are exceptional when we are not. The book of Nehemiah is a good read for taking an idea, planning, and acting. It is also clear that the results were measured.
